Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is unavailable for tonight’s clash against Manchester City due to a slight ankle injury, the club’s official Twitter account has revealed.

The Gunners released their team for the game against Pep Guardiola’s men earlier this evening with the exclusion of Wilshere clear to see. This prompted confusion among the Arsenal faithful but it has emerged that the England international has been ruled out of the match.

It seems the injury is not particularly serious and there is hope that Wilshere will be back in time for Arsenal’s trip to Brighton on Sunday. However, the team will be forced to cope without Wilshere’s presence in the middle as they welcome the Premier League leaders.
Wilshere was one of few players to come out of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat to City with some credit, as Arsenal crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium.
However, the Gunners will need to cope without the midfielder as they seek revenge against City at the Emirates tonight.
