Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham all chasing star midfielder
Earlier this month, Arsenal were mentioned alongside both Liverpool and Tottenham as interested parties in Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, and the Frenchman has seemingly confirmed that now.
Speaking in an interview with French outlet Telefoot, as cited by the Daily Star, Doucoure confirms that there are three Premier League clubs looking to sign him, and Arsenal are one of them.
It’s true that these clubs [Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham] are interested. But I’m at Watford for the moment and I want to finish my season well.
In addition, Doucoure was pressed to pick a preference between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, the midfielder named the Gunners as his preferred destination due to the Arsene Wenger factor.
Doucoure has netted seven goals and provided three assists so far this season and the all-action midfielder has been one of the standouts for Watford over the last 12 months.
Watford are hoping they can persuade him to stay at the club with a new contract worth £60,000-a-week, but given the interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham in the £20m-rated midfielder, plus his comments, it’s hard to see him not being on the move after this season.
