Arsenal goalkeeper makes prediction ahead of clash with Manchester City
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed that he doesn’t expect to start this weekend, with David Ospina set to start in the Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City, the Mirror reports.
The Gunners veteran is the club’s first choice goalkeeper and that has been exemplified by Arsene Wenger’s decision to favour him in the Premier League in recent seasons.
However, Colombian international Ospina has often been called upon in cup competitions and this has been the case throughout the League Cup campaign thus far.
Cech hailed the squad depth that Arsene Wenger has at his disposal and admitted that although he is not keen on missing out, he will be fully supportive of his fellow goalkeeper.
I will be there supporting but I don’t expect to play. At the start it was clear that it was going to be like that. It is always hard to watch any game from the bench or even from the stand if you are not selected.
As a player, you always want to be involved. But obviously you are in a professional club where there are 25 top players and the manager always makes his choices for the game and you need to accept that.
It will be Arsenal’s first chance to secure some silverware this season and with the club already out of the FA Cup, Wenger will be out to claim a scalp over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Ospina will need to perform well if he is called upon, with Manchester City’s excellent attacking options continuing to fire.
