Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes that Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal career is as good as over.

The French striker joined Arsenal from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer for a deal worth around £52million as one of the most coveted strikers in Europe.

However since signing for the Gunners, Lacazette has struggled for consistent form, with it proving difficult to regularly score goals in the Premier League.

With Arsenal now having splashed out once again on a striker, this time with the £56million signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, Lacazette’s long-term future with the club looks uncertain.

According to Petit, the 26-year old striker is on borrowed time in North London, with the former Ligue 1 star claiming Arsene Wenger has already lost faith in the forward. Petit said;

Lacazette is under massive pressure. He needs to improve or face the exit this summer.

Aubameyang’s signing tells me it might already be too late. Arsene Wenger’s belief in Lacazette has gone.

Lacazette has only managed nine goals in 28 games for the Gunners this season, with most of those occurring in the first part of the season. In his last 12 games, Lacazette has only managed a single goal.

With Aubameyang having started and scored against Everton, the Gabon international is expected to keep his place ahead of the North London derby on Saturday.
