Arsenal are reportedly ready to do battle with Chelsea over former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.
It’s claimed by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo that the Gunners want to hijack the Blues’ pursuit of the manager, as they reconsider Arsene Wenger’s future at the club.
Wenger put pen to paper on a two-year extension at the Emirates at the end of last season but after what has been an underwhelming campaign so far, it seems they are being forced to explore other options, with Carlo Ancelotti also a name being touted for the role.
Chelsea, too, appear to be pondering over the managerial hot seat. Antonio Conte is under serious pressure and Enrique is understood to be keen on managing in the Premier League next.
Wenger remains keen to at least see his existing deal at Arsenal out but it seems contingency plans are being made for his departure, with the possibility of an early exit now coming to light, if these reports from Spain are true.
