Besiktas hold talks with Arsenal over signing Welbeck
Turkish giants Besiktas have opened negotiations with Danny Welbeck’s representatives in London as the club look to secure his services this month, according to report from Turkish Football.
The striker has become increasingly frustrated with a lack of starting matches and has found himself on the bench behind Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud for the majority of the season.
Welbeck is keen to get more playing time in an attempt to force himself back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup this summer.
Besiktas are keen to replace Cenk Tosun, who has joined Everton and the Turkish club believe Welbeck is the ideal replacement.
The initial move is expected to be a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy the Englishman after the loan spell has ended.
Besiktas can offer Welbeck first team football and also a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League as they face Bayern Munich in the last-16 of the competition.
Arsenal are already set to lose Alexis Sanchez this month and Welbeck now looks likely to leave but Wenger is working on bringing in replacements, with Malcolm set to be the first arrival.
Welbeck has been riddled with injuries in recent years but is now back to full fitness and could be on his way out of the Emirates.
