Arsenal continued their pursuit of a place in the top four by beating Newcastle 1-0 at home on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger rotated his side against the out-of-form Newcastle side and a single goal from Mesut Ozil gave the Gunners all three points.
Ozil took his goal brilliantly as he continues his fine run of form, despite concerns about his future.
Here is how we rated each player’s performance after the full-time whistle.
Petr Cech - 6
Cech didn’t have a great deal to do but when he was called into action he dealt with it well.
Hector Bellerin - 5
The Spaniard was far from his best against the Magpies. His end product let him down when Arsenal were attacking.
Laurent Koscielny - 6
The Frenchman was probably tested a lot more than he expected to be against Newcastle and he didn’t look all that comfortable, but did manage to keep a clean sheet.
Nacho Monreal - 7
Monreal continues to impress as a make-shift central defender.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 8
The youngster came into the side and impressed when he was given the chance. He showed confidence and maturity on the ball and certainly gives Wenger something to think about.
Granit Xhaka - 5
The Swiss was far from his best as he struggled to get Arsenal on the front foot.
Jack Wilshere - 7
The central midfielder showed flashes of brilliant best against Newcastle. If he can continue in that vein of form, talk of a new deal at the club will only increase.
Alex Iwobi - 7
Iwobi was bright in possession and he looked to get forward where possible, unlucky to not get on the scoresheet.
Mesut Ozil - 8
The German was Arsenal’s Man of the Match and took his goal brilliantly to put the Gunners ahead.
Performances like that are a timely reminder of the player Arsenal could be about to lose.
Alexis Sanchez - 6
A frustrating afternoon for the Chilean as things just didn’t fall for him.
Alexandre Lacazette - 7
Arsenal looked much more potent going forward with Lacazette leading the line. Offered a lot more than Giroud did against West Ham.
Subs:
Danny Welbeck – 6, Was brought on in the final moments and helped see the game out.
Olivier Giroud – 6, Offered a different threat in the final stages.
Francis Coquelin – 6, Came on and added some physicality to the midfield to see out the game.
