Wilshere contract talks to begin next month
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that contract talks with Jack Wilshere will begin next month.
Wilshere’s contract with the club expires at the end of the season, with recent reports claiming that the midfielder is considering an exit in January.
The midfielder has started once in the Premier League this season, despite his impressive performance in other competitions and off the bench.
Speaking to The Express, Wenger said this:
We’ll talk next month.
He’s an Arsenal man and for him it is important for him to be happy here.
His only start in the Premier League this season came in midweek against West Ham at The Emirates, a 0-0 draw.
He could now be in line to start against Newcastle this weekend, as Arsenal look to end a run of three games without a win.
The Gunners have accrued two points from their last three league matches, against Manchester United, Southampton and West Ham.
With the World Cup coming up at the end of the season, Wilshere will want a run of regular games to have a shot at making the England squad.
