Wenger defiant over Walcott’s future at Arsenal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Theo Walcott does have a future at the club, Football London reports.
Recent reports have suggested that the England international could be on his way out of the Emirates in the near future, with the player growing increasingly frustrated by the shortage of first-team opportunities at Arsenal.
Walcott has been used rather sporadically this season. He has been a mainstay for Arsenal in the Europa League but has been utilised largely as an impact substitute in Premier League affairs.
This has led to rumours of his departure from the club after a long stint in North London. The likes of West Ham, Everton and Southampton have been linked, but Wenger was defiant when asked whether or not Walcott has a future with the Gunners.
Yes, of course.
Walcott was left out of the Arsenal squad that took on West Ham on Wednesday night. Wenger explained that Walcott is suffering from a minor groin problem at the moment, hence his exclusion from the midweek stalemate.
Walcott had a little groin problem and he would have been in the squad at West Ham. I don’t think he will be available tomorrow (against Newcastle). It’s not a bad one. I think he has a little chance to be available against West Ham (on Tuesday).
