Lacazette aiming for Champions League spot
Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette says that the aim for the club is to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Lacazette has admitted that it would take a miracle to overtake Manchester City and win the Premier League this season, with league leaders currently 19 points ahead of Arsenal.
The French forward has claimed that the club’s goal coming into the season was to qualify for the Champions League, rather than aiming for the title.
Speaking to Football London, Lacazette said this:
It would be really complicated to win it at this point.
We would really need a miracle. City would need to lose a lot of their games and we know their record.
But the goal in coming here was always to qualify for the Champions League and if we could get the title, fantastic.
Arsenal have failed to win their last three matches, losing to Manchester United and drawing against Southampton and West Ham.
Lacazette joined Arsenal from Lyon in the summer for a club-record fee, and is the club’s top goalscorer this season.
The striker has netted eight goals in 14 Premier League starts this season and has impressed when given the right service.
