Wenger sees Widmer as Bellerin replacement
Arsene Wenger has reportedly eyed Udinese’s Silvan Widmar as a possible replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is wanted by a number of clubs, according to the Mirror.
Widmar is one of the first names of Udinese’s teamsheet, featuring in six of the last seven games on the right-side of defence.
Should Bellerin eventually decide to force through a move away from Arsenal, with Barcelona said to be interested, the Widmar, who has experience at right-back and right wing-back, would be a serviceable replacement.
Bellerin is also on the radar of Serie A champions Juventus would want to add competition at right-back for Mattia De Sciglio, a summer recruit from AC Milan.
Widmer is well-travelled, spending the early part of his career in Swiss and Spanish football before finding a home in Italy with Udinese.
