Ozil tells Barca there are no agreement with other clubs
Mesut Ozil has reportedly told Barcelona executives that he has not made any agreement with another club to join them in January, according to Calciomercato.
Ozil, whose contract runs out at the end of this current season, is able to talk to clubs on a pre-contract agreement in January when the next transfer window opens.
He has been linked heavily with moves to Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Catalonian giants Barcelona, arch rivals of his club before Arsenal, Real Madrid.
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are reportedly ready to give Ozil a contract before the transfer window opens which will make the German international the biggest paid player in the history of Arsenal Football Club.
It is also well known that Alexis Sanchez is in the same situation as Ozil, however, it is more likely that the Chilean will leave North London.
Barcelona reportedly see Ozil as an alternative replacement for their other target, Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, who would cost Ernesto Valverde north of £100m, whereas Ozil will have no transfer fee to his name.
With replacements for the potentially outgoing Ozil, Arsenal have been most heavily linked to Leon Goretzka or Schalke 04.
Ozil wants to know if a move to Barcelona is possible before he even thinks about committing his future to the Emirates. He has told Valverde that there have been no agreements with other clubs, which include Manchester United and most importantly, Arsenal.
