Barcelona have made an opening offer for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.

The report claims that Barcelona are very keen to add Ozil to their squad and have already sent an offer to Arsenal.

Despite Ozil’s contract expiring next summer, Barcelona want to sign him in January and beat off the competition.

The report says that the fact he is still eligible for the Champions League this season has played a big role in their decision to make the move in January.

Barcelona could sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January that would see him join on a free at the end of the season.

However, the Spanish giants are unwilling to wait and want him when the next transfer window opens.

Don Balon claim that Barcelona will only offer up to £20m for Ozil in January, with Arsenal now having a decision to make on whether or not they will accept.
