Arsenal are hoping to make it three wins out of three in the Europa League group stages when they play Serbian side Red Star Belgrade on Thursday evening.

Playing in the second tier of European competition is not what Arsenal are used to, but as Manchester United showed last season, it can bring its rewards — with a Champions League spot for next season being awarded to the winner of the Europa League.

The last time Arsenal were in Serbia though, was indeed for a Champions League fixture, against Red Star’s biggest rivals; Partizan Belgrade, with the two sides’ respective stadiums only one kilometre away from one another.
