Benzema joined Real Madrid from Ligue 1 side Lyon back in 2009 — he was linked with Arsenal all those years ago, with Manchester United another Premier League side who were interested before Los Blancos took him to the Spanish capital.

He has since made 373 appearances for Spanish side, scoring 182 goals. In his time with Real, Benzema has won two league titles, two Copa del Reys and three UEFA Champions League medals, among other trophies.

He is a skillful striker who is best known for his agility and movement — he is not always on the end of attacking moves but if you watch him closely you’ll see that he is constantly making intelligent runs to make space for his team mates.
