Arsenal to sell Sanchez as no one wants Ozil
As we edge closer to the January transfer window, Arsenal will have to make decisions on the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez very soon.
The pair, regarded as Arsenal’s two most talented and influential players, both become free agents next summer and are no closer to signing contract extensions to stay at the Emirates than they were when talks were opened last year.
Arsenal were prepared to sell Alexis in the summer when they accepted Manchester City’s £60m bid for the attacker, but their failure to land Monaco’s Thomas Lemar saw the deal fall through on Deadline Day.
While desperate to keep both players, Arsenal would prefer Sanchez remained at the club even if it was at Ozil’s expense, but despite reported interest from Inter Milan and Manchester United, the German playmaker is attracting little transfer interest heading into January.
Teams would rather wait and try and sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer which has forced Arsenal to consider selling Sanchez for a cut-price fee in January because there is such little interest in Ozil.
Both Manchester City and PSG are interested in Sanchez who could leave for just £20m in January, which would pave the way for Ozil to receive the major pay rise he’s demanding to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
