Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still keen on signing Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling; meaning that Alexis Sanchez could go the other way in the January transfer window.

Sanchez is out of contract at Arsenal come next summer, so if the Gunners want to claim some of his value in monetary terms, they will need to move him on in the January transfer window.

According to the Mirror, that could come in the shape of a swap deal which was rumoured during the last transfer window — which would involve Raheem Sterling becoming an Arsenal player.

Wenger tried to lure the 22-year-old winger to Arsenal in the summer, but his attempts were rebuffed by Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola reluctant to let the young Englishman leave.

Arsenal might well move for him again in January though, as they could be facing losing Alexis Sanchez for less than half of his value.

Sanchez has scored 73 goals in 147 appearances for Arsenal since arriving from La Liga giants Barcelona — and would be sorely missed at the Emirates, however a deal for ex-Liverpool man Raheem Sterling, who has scored against Watford, Everton and Bournemouth so far this season, would certainly soften the blow.
