Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is adamant that the Premier League title is not out of his side’s reach this season.
The Gunners have been in inconsistent form at this early stage of the campaign, and will now turn their attention towards their Europa League opener against Cologne on Thursday night.
Arsenal won 3-0 against Bournemouth at the weekend, with Bellerin helping them to keep a clean sheet, and the Spaniard is now backing the Gunners to build on this comprehensive victory.
Bellerin, as quoted by the IB Times UK, has claimed that Arsenal should take inspiration from Chelsea’s title triumph last season to push them on.
Look at how Chelsea began last season and how they ended up winning the title. It doesn’t only matter how you start but to be consistent.
Check the Chelsea results at the beginning of last season. They had a difficult time too, they lost two games and won several games in the last minutes. Then, they won 13 consecutive games and eventually won the Premier League.
The Spain Under-21 international was one player who came under heavy criticism in stages last season, and one who will be hoping to prove his doubters wrong with a successful campaign this time around.
Manchester City, however, started very well and then faded out. The important thing is to be consistent throughout the season. We have had two bad games but we now have six points and we have to look forward.
Bellerin also allayed fears that his teammate Alexis Sanchez is not fully focused on the task at hand.
Alexis is 100 per cent focused on Arsenal. He didn’t start [against Bournemouth] after returning from international duty but when he came on he has proved that he is 100% and is going to be in every game.
