Betis set to rival Deportivo for Perez
Arsenal striker Lucas Perez appears to be no closer to securing a move away from the Emirates this summer.
The experienced Spaniard has been persistently linked with a return to his homeland, and it was looking all but certain that he’d secure a move back to Deportivo La Coruna.
However, according to Spanish news outlet Estadio Deportivo, as cited by the Daily Mail, a new potential suitor has emerged. Real Betis are reportedly considering hijacking Deportivo’s move for the striker, with them keen to add more firepower to the ranks.
Perez was starved of first-team opportunities last season and with Arsene Wenger keen to trim the squad down in the remaining part of the transfer window, he is primed for an exit.
The 28-year-old, who joined the Gunners in a deal worth around £17m last summer, made just two Premier League starts last term.
It’s likely that a deal worth just under £11m will lure Perez away from North London.
