Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign in dramatic fashion beating Leicester City 4-3 at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners took an early lead through summer signing Alexandre Lacazette, who headed in Mohamed Elneny’s cross.
Leicester hit back quickly through Shinji Okazaki and took the lead through Jamie Vardy.
Arsenal equalised just before the break in a dramatic opening half of football. The second half was just as dramatic as Vardy hit the back of the net once again.
The introductions of Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey seemingly changed the game as both scored within five minutes to ensure Arsenal kicked off the season with a win.
Here’s how we rated each of the Arsenal players’ performances:
Petr Cech - 5
In no man’s land for Leicester’s opener, but could nothing for either of the other two goals.
Rob Holding - 3
The worst player on the pitch in red. Struggled throughout the game and was substituted in the second half.
Nacho Monreal - 4
Arsenal’s defence was poor all game, they conceded three goals. The back three looked all over the place thus Monreal cannot be rated any higher.
Sead Kolašinac - 5
Kolašinac was a positive going forward for the Gunners but was at fault for the first Leicester goal. For a team that has conceded three goals, he cannot be rated any higher.
Hector Bellerin - 6
Provided great width throughout the game. A solid performance from Bellerin.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 6
Provided great width throughout the game again.
Granit Xhaka - 5
Made two key mistakes in the first half. His passing range is still exquisite. Rough around the edges is the perfect way to describe Xhaka at the moment.
Mohamed Elneny - 4
A poor performance overall from Elneny. Looked poor in possession all match.
Mesut Ozil - 6
Not a vintage Ozil performance, however, showed glimpses of brilliance at times.
Alexandre Lacazette - 6
Scored within two minutes, but struggled to make an impact after that.
Danny Welbeck - 6
Was involved in a lot of Arsenal’s impressive attacks and scored their equaliser before the break.
Aaron Ramsey - 8
Changed the game when he was introduced in the second half. Scored Arsenal’s equaliser.
Olivier Giroud - 7
Scored Arsenal’s winner. Another important goal from the Frenchman.
Theo Walcott - 5
Didn’t offer much after being substituted in the second half.
