Fenerbahce drop out of Perez race
One potential suitor has dropped out of the race to sign Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez this summer, with Fenerbahce having moved on from him.
The Turkish outfit had held a serious interest in bringing Perez over to the Super Lig this summer but lost patience, opting to sign Roberto Soldado from Villarreal instead.
Now, according to Spanish news outlet AS, they have ended their interest in experienced Arsenal forward Perez, leaving him with two known potential destinations – Deportivo La Coruna and Newcastle United.
It’s claimed in the report that Perez himself would favour a move back to his homeland, and specifically with Deportivo. However, the La Liga side are reluctant to pay the full extent of Perez’s asking price. Arsenal reportedly value their £17m signing from last summer at £13.4m.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has already admitted his interest, and could now be in pole position to sign his compatriot.
