Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his squad must be trimmed, with sales of fringe players being targeted in the final month of the window.
The Gunners boss spoke of his happiness with the depth in his squad, but also admitted that some players will need to be offloaded as there are currently too many options at his disposal.
Wenger, as quoted by the Evening Standard, said this:
We will let some players go because too much competition for places is detrimental. Not enough competition for places is detrimental as well. I agree that 33 [sic] is too high.
The Frenchman helped Arsenal to achieve a victory in the Community Shield this afternoon, with them winning on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Chelsea.

Players such as Lucas Perez have been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, while the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Joel Campbell are all also set to be sold.
Arsenal appear to still be in the market for reinforcements, but will be keen to make some funds available through the sales of these outcasts.
