Arsenal linked with move for Karim Benzema
If Kylian Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, one of the ‘BBC’ attacking trio will have to lose their place in the starting line-up and let’s face it, it won’t be Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale.
Karim Benzema will be the inevitable fall guy if Real Madrid land the Monaco striker and the Mirror understand that both Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to move for Benzema if he becomes available.
Having scored 19 goals last season, Benzema is still very much regarded as one of the best centre-forwards in Europe and would be a fantastic addition to the Arsenal squad.
However, having club parted ways with a club-record £53m fee to sign Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal are unlikely to double-down on big-name strikers this summer.
Lacazette can be played from a wider area, opening up a role for Benzema through the middle, but before any of this, Madrid need to strike a world-record deal with Monaco for Mbappe, who is also wanted by Arsenal, which is easier said than done.
