Arsenal have been linked with a move for Riyad Mahrez for some time now, but it looks as though Roma have established themselves as genuine contenders for his signature.
According to the Daily Mail, the Serie A side are keen to improve upon their opening offer for the Algerian international as they look to bolster their squad this summer.
Roma were claimed by reports out in Italy to have made an initial offer of around £20m for Mahrez; a fee which is clearly insufficient. However, the Daily Mail state that the Italian side are ready to improve their offer.
Monchi, Roma’s sporting director, is claimed to have already held discussions with Leicester’s board over a potential move.
Leicester are keen to take in at least £40m from the sale of Mahrez, who handed in a transfer request at the end of the season, and Arsenal are understandably deterred by his valuation.
