Arsene Wenger has given the clearest indication that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be an Arsenal player next season.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers, as reported by the Metro, Wenger weighed in on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future.

“Yes. 100%, I expect him to stay,” the Arsenal boss said in response to questions on the player’s future. “No matter the speculation, he will stay.”

Liverpool had been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder this summer and the player was thought to be keen on switching the Emirates for Anfield in the search of regular first-team football.

The England international is entering the final 12 months of his current deal at the club and with no fresh contract talks planned, it had looked as if Arsenal were willing to cash in on the player.

Other reports had linked Chelsea with a swap deal involving Nemanja Matic in an attempt to land Oxlade-Chamberlain but those rumours were quickly swept under the carpet.
