Arsenal’s pursuit of AS Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar has been well documented over the course of the last month.
Although no negotiations appear to be ongoing, it’s looking as though the move is set to be ruled out before it even got going. According to a report from the Mirror this evening, the Ligue 1 champions are ready to demand a huge fee of £80m.
The Gunners are poised to confirm the signing of Alexandre Lacazette for a fee of around £52m from Lyon in the coming days – a record transfer for the club.
However, this isn’t set to stop them spending in the window and Lemar is certainly appearing to be a target.
While a move looks unlikely if Monaco are to stand firm on their valuation, the Gunners will no doubt be keen to try Leonardo Jardim’s hand and attempt to lure Lemar away from the club.
