Carles Alena is regarded as one of the best young talents to emerge from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in the last decade, but the midfielder could be leaving the Nou Camp.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, Alena is still no closer to signing an extension with Barcelona and appears set to pursuit first-team football opportunities elsewhere.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Alena, but now Tottenham have entered the race to sign him and are monitoring his situation, according to the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old midfielder is assessing his options and has also been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months.

Dubbed the ‘new Iniesta’, Alena is capped at U19 by Spain and is eager to play more first-team football after making his senior debut for Barcelona last season.

Arsenal have had great success with Barcelona recruits in the Arsene Wenger era, namely Hector Bellerin and Cesc Fabregas, but the club must fend off interest from Tottenham and Manchester United to add Alena to their ranks.
