Gunners prepared to bid for Martial
Arsenal are considering a move for Man United man Anthony Martial this summer if main target Kylian Mbappe chooses a different club.
The Daily Mail claim that although Mbappe is the Gunners’ number one target, Martial has been lined up as a back up option.
Arsene Wenger is prepared to offer as much as £40 million for the French winger who has struggled since Jose Mourinho took charge of the club.
Wenger is said to be doubtful over a deal if it involves negotiations with Mourinho given the duo’s checkered past so he would prefer a deal to be struck by the clubs’ respective boards.
Martial still managed to make 42 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring eight times and setting up his teammates for another eight.
Wenger is also believed to be on the verge of completing the deal for yet another Frenchman, in Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, and reports claim a deal could be complete as soon as next week.
