Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has insisted that he remains confident of teammate and compatriot Hector Bellerin staying at the club this summer.
The promising right-back has been turning heads for a couple of seasons now and this has understandably prompted interest from a host of top, European clubs. One of these clubs are Barcelona, where Bellerin used to ply his trade.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have established their interest and appear to be the side most keen on landing the Spanish defender this summer, but his future remains highly uncertain.
Bellerin signed a deal back in November and was expected to stay put at the Emirates this summer but an offer on the table from Barca could prove to be too good to refuse.
Monreal, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, reiterated that he is confident his good friend and teammate Bellerin will be staying put though.
He’s an Arsenal player and almost certainly he will continue here. Hector is a very important player for us and the boss has already reiterated that he counts on him.
Now they will have to negotiate between the clubs and we will see what happen but almost for sure he will continue with us.
If Monreal is correct in his predictions, it’s sure to be good news for Arsenal heading into the coming campaign.
