Arsenal’s plot to sign AS Monaco wide man Thomas Lemar could be hindered by their London rivals Chelsea, who are keen to land the player’s teammate Tiemoue Bakayoko.
According to a report from the Mirror, the Gunners’ pursuit of Lemar rests on whether or not the Ligue 1 champions offload Bakayoko to Chelsea this summer. This is because they do not want to sell both players in the same window.
Monaco have already offloaded one key player in Bernardo Silva, who sealed a switch to Manchester City early on, and are keen to prevent any other sales of key players.
It seems as though a move for Chelsea to sign Bakayoko is somewhat more advanced than Arsenal’s plan to recruit Lemar this summer, but this could perhaps speed up Arsene Wenger’s pursuit of the France international.
Arsenal have began their summer business already, with the signing of Sead Kolasinac confirmed, but they will surely be keen to bring more players in ahead of pre-season.
