Arsenal make contact with Napoli star
Arsenal’s German playmaker Mesut Ozil is being linked with a move away from the Emirates and it appears that the Gunners may already be planning for life without him.
Il Roma, cited on Calcio Mercato, claim that Arsenal made contact with the representatives of Lorenzo Insigne last month prior to Napoli’s home leg in the Champions League last 16 tie against Real Madrid.
Insigne has impressed for Napoli this season and has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has scored 14 league goals for Napoli this season, as well as registering seven assists, making it easy to see why the Gunners are interested in the Italian.
Arsene Wenger may, however, struggle to convince the Italian international to switch Napoli for London anytime soon.
The flamboyant attacker, who is a fan favourite in Naples, is expected to sign a contract extension with the Serie A club imminently.
