Arsenal target move for Tiemoue Bakayoko
Looking to add some fresh faces to their midfield, Arsenal are interested in signing Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko in the summer, according to the Daily Star (h/t the Mirror).
Arsenal spent £34m on bringing Granit Xhaka to the club from Borussia Monchengladbach but the Swiss midfielder hasn’t been a great success for the Gunners thus far and Arsene Wenger needs to continue to strengthen his options in the middle of the park.
With Santi Cazorla ageing and again lost for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, Jack Wilshere’s future up in the air and Aaron Ramsey struggling for form, another midfielder would be a welcome addition.
Bakayoko has been impressive for Monaco since £6.8m move from Rennes in 2014 and he played a starring role during the Ligue 1 club’s entertaining 5-3 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this week.
Valued at £40m, Bakayoko is under contract until the end of the 2018/19 season and Arsenal aren’t alone in their pursuit of the combative central midfielder with Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain among those said to be keeping tabs on his progress.
