Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title took a massive, massive blow as they lost 2-1 at home to Watford.
Two goals in a three-minute spell from the visitors gave them a cushion, one which they took advantage off.
Alex Iwobi’s finish after Alexis Sanchez’s cross brought a renewed sense of hope to the Gunners but they didn’t capitalize, and the fans at the Emirates left feeling very, very disappointed.
Here are my player ratings from the game:
Petr Cech - 6
I don’t think either goal was his fault. A defection beat him for the first and he was out quickly for the second and saved pretty well with his feet.
Gabriel - 4
Didn’t defend well and looked poor going forward too.
Laurent Koscielny - 5
One of his poorest performances in a while. His use of the ball was poor and he looked pretty shaky.
Shkodran Mustafi - 6
Mustafi was guilty of giving the ball away too and started poorly but looked a bit better as the game went on.
Nacho Monreal - 4
Poor game from the Spaniard. He looked poor in all aspects of the game and was booked for a dive.
Francis Coquelin - 5
Francis Coquelin is a good ball winner and proved that again but his use of the ball was often too slow.
Aaron Ramsey - 3
Was only on the pitch for about 20 minutes before leaving with injury, but it was a bad 20 minutes! Was slightly unlucky with the deflection but failing to track back on the second goal was really poor from the Welshman.
Alex Iwobi - 7
Had a quiet first half but improved after break and got his goal.
Alexis Sanchez - 6
Watford did a good job nullifying Sanchez and he didn’t have a great impact. Having said that, his assist was a nice bit of play.
Mesut Ozil - 5
His touch looked poor for some reason, which is odd considering he’s had a decent rest. Not up to his usual high standards.
Olivier Giroud - 4
Taken off at half-time and understandably so. Didn’t get into the game at all.
(Sub) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 5
Replaced the injured Ramsey but actually proved wh he was on the bench despite playing well the game before. He looked rather tired.
(Sub) Theo Walcott - 5
Tried to inject some life into the side when he came on but didn’t really make anything noteworthy happen. His shooting was poor.
(Sub) Lucas Perez - 6
Looked sharp when he came on and was unlucky with his effort that hit the bar. Probably deserves a few more starts.
