Mathieu Debuchy to be transfer listed
Arsenal will reportedly put Mathieu Debuchy on the transfer list in January in a bid to sell the French right-back, according to Le10 Sport.
The Gunners paid £12m for the 31-year-old back in the summer of 2014 after an impressive 18-month spell with Newcastle but the former Lille standout has failed to live up to the hype.
An ankle injury in September 2014 caused Debuchy to miss three months of action where he briefly returned before a shoulder injury suffered against Stoke in January ruled him out until April.
Many Arsenal fans are thankful for this. While it’s never good to see players get injured, this prompted Arsene Wenger to throw Hector Bellerin in at the deep end and the former Barcelona youth player has developed into one of the best fullbacks in Europe over the last two years.
Since joining the Gunners, Debuchy has made just 23 appearances for the club and has missed 38 games to date through various injuries which includes a hamstring issue which sees the 27-time France international ruled out until mid-January.
After failing to impress at Bordeaux last season on loan, Debuchy has been searching for a move away with nothing materialising thus far but Marseille are said to be keen on bringing him in next month.
