Arsenal make late move for La Liga striker
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a host of defenders over the last few weeks; their other position of need, is up front.
Olivier Giroud is not the world-class striker Arsenal need to win a title. For most of the summer, Arsenal have been linked with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, but that move now seems dead. The Daily Mail now reports that Arsenal have made an offer for Deportivo La Coruna striker, Lucas Perez.
Everton have been after the striker, and were willing to pay the £16.9 million release clause, but now Arsene Wenger is willing to rival Everton for the 27-year-old.
Perez is a quick player who can play as a striker or on the wing. He scored 17 goals in La Liga last season and has also attracted Valencia. Valencia had wanted Perez as a replacement for Paco Alcacer – who could be leaving for Barcelona – but have been told that Perez is close to an agreement with Arsenal.
