Valencia up Shkodran Mustafi price
Arsenal have long been linked with Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi but as of yet – to the ire of the fans – Arsenal have not finalised a deal for the German international.
According to reports, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with the player but not a transfer fee with Valencia. Valencia have quoted Arsenal a fee close to £30 million whereas Arsenal believe he is only worth around £20-25 million.
Now according to John Cross of the Mirror, Arsenal have now been quoted a fee of £50 million for Mustafi.
At such a late stage of the transfer window, it is no surprise that Valencia have driven up the price for a player Arsenal are interested in, but also a position where Arsenal are desperate to strengthen. Due to the price, Arsenal have looked at alternative targets such as Johnny Evans, Simon Kjaer, Omer Toprak and for a short period of time, Jose Gimenez.
Valencia need the money, thus the deal could still be salvaged but time is certainly running out.
