Arsenal turn attention to Monaco defender
Arsenal’s move for Valencia defender, Shkodran Mustafi, looks to becoming increasingly unlikely. Valencia have now increased the price of the German to around £50 million, which Arsenal are unlikely to pay.
Due to the haggling over the transfer fee with Valencia, Arsenal have been looking at alternative targets such as Johnny Evans, Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer. The Mirror, however now reports that Arsenal are now targeting Monaco defender, Marcel Tisserand.
La Liga side Espanyol had hoped to complete the signing of Tisserand but the player has put that move on hold with the hope that Arsenal or another team might come in for him.
The Democratic Republic of Congo international has struggled to establish himself at Monaco, and has consequently spent loan spells at Toulouse and Lens. The 23-year-old can play at centre-back and right-back and could be an ideal plan B option if the Mustafi deal is well and truly finished.
