Arsenal headed to the King Power stadium in the pursuit of their first points of the season.
Both teams suffered bad losses last weekend and were looking to bounce back quickly.
Arsenal brought back Laurent Koscielny into the team, while Santi and Oxlade-Chamberlain also gained a spot in the starting XI.
The Gunners started well but didn’t have that cutting edge in the final third. Koscielny was outstanding and was arguably the best player on the pitch – Holding also looked solid. Up front, Arsenal had some minor chances but couldn’t break through, while Leicester had a penalty claim turned down. The first-half finished 0-0.
The second-half started much the same. Arsenal had most of the ball while Leicester tried to strike on the counter attack. Francis Coquelin was lucky not to be sent off, while Leicester could’ve also had a penalty.
The game finished 0-0, a good point for the Gunners. So let’s have a look at how the players got on.
Petr Cech: 8/10
Had a very good game. Made some crucial saves and made up for last week. Cech once again proved his value.
Hector Bellerin: 7/10
Looked much more comfortable in comparison to last week. He got forward well and defended his side well – apart from a moment which could’ve been a penalty.
All in all a good game for the Spaniard.
Rob Holding: 8/10
A much improved performance today. The young centre-back had a very good game with Koscielny. He tackled well, marked well and adjusted to Leicester’s pace.
In tandem with Laurent Koscielny, he was very impressive. Early impressions of him are good so far.
Laurent Koscielny: 9/10
The best player on the pitch. Laurent Koscielny was a welcome gamble. He’s only just returned to the lineup but it didn’t look like it.
He constantly blocked, cleared, covered and marked superbly. The point Arsenal gained is largely down to him.
Nacho Monreal: 7/10
Like Bellerin, he had a very solid game. He defended very well against one of the best wingers in Europe. At the end he made some crucial headers to save the draw.
Francis Coquelin: 6.5/10
He formed a good partnership with Xhaka in midfield, which looked comfortable for much of the game. He did, however make some rash challenges, and arguably could’ve been sent off.
He needs to watch his tackling.
Granit Xhaka: 7/10
Partnered Coquelin in midfield and looked solid. At times he was a bit sluggish in midfield but overall he passed the ball well. For his first full game in the Premier League, he looked good.
Theo Walcott: 6.5/10
At times he passed through the game without really having an effect but also could’ve scored.
In defence Walcott did work hard but he didn’t provide much going forward. As we always say about Walcott, he just didn’t do enough.
Santi Cazorla: 6.5/10
Played in the 10 role but couldn’t get anything going. Sanchez and Cazorla didn’t link up well, although that could be more Sanchez’s fault.
Cazorla should play further back in the next game.
Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7/10
Constantly took on Danny Simpson but just couldn’t get his goal. He provided good energy down the flank and constantly worked hard. A good game for ‘The Ox’.
Alexis Sanchez: 6.5/10
Only slightly better than last week. Sanchez struggled to get into the game and even found it hard to pass.
He looks uncomfortable as a striker, he needs to switch back to his left-wing position next week.
