Icardi vows to stay at Internationale
Arsenal target Mauro Icardi has vowed to stay at Inter Milan this summer, claiming he will stay until at least 2019.
The Gunners had been linked with a €50m move for the Inter forward, but it appears as though any move would prove fruitless, with Icardi refusing to leave Italy.
Icardi has claimed to be very happy and settled in Milan, with his family loving the City. He is in no rush to leave and wants to see out his contract, which expires in 2019.
Speaking to Inter’s website, Icardi said this:
I’m going to be here until 2019.
I have a contract and we love it in Milan. The whole family wants to stay. It doesn’t distract me, I’ve been at Inter for three years and it’s been the same thing every season. I’m an Interista.
The 23-year-old was supposedly a big target for Arsenal this summer, following his superb displays for Inter over the past few seasons. Icardi has scored 43 goals in two seasons for the Milan outfit, proving himself to be one of the most prolific forwards in Europe.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a new striker to compete with Oliver Giroud to help fire them to a Premier League title next season, but it seems it is going to be a tough search, as Italian journalist, Emanuele Giulianelli confirmed.
Twitter: Arsenal staff had a transfer meeting today & are plotting a big name striker move. Not Higuain/Lacazette/Icardi though. (@EmaGiulianelli)
It looks as though it’s going to be a long summer window for Arsenal fans.
