Wolfsburg keen on Olivier Giroud
Since Olivier Giroud made the move from Montpellier to Arsenal in the summer of 2012, he has always faced criticism over his lack of goal scoring ability. Although the French striker has reached double figures in every one of his four seasons in the Premier League, he has never broken the 20 goal barrier, indeed, his highest goal tally is 16 goals in the 2013/14 season, as per ESPN.
The last year or so, however has seen the pressure on Giroud mount even more, especially as Arsenal were linked with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema all throughout last summer.
This season, Arsenal have been heavily criticized for not winning the Premier League title. Many have attributed Arsenal’s lack of a world-class striker as one of the main reasons for not winning the League. It’s hard to disagree with this statement when the top two teams in the League, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City, both have strikers with over 20 goals in the League- Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy respectively.
Although having gone 15 games without a goal, it has been reported that Giroud is a target for German club, Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg do have Dutch hotshot Bas Dost as their main striker, but amid transfer speculation, the German club could well lose him to a Premier League club.
With the return of Danny Welbeck, and possibly a new striker in the summer, a transfer away from Arsenal could well be on the cards for Giroud.
