Arsenal and Chelsea have lost out in the race to sign talented teenager Nishan Burkhart, after the player’s father confirmed that he would be leaving FC Zurich for Manchester United this summer.

The 15-year-old has become one of the most highly rated players in European football having impressed with the under-16s during his time in Switzerland, with a number of sides monitoring his situation for the past season.

It’s believed that both Arsenal and Chelsea were amongst the clubs interested but according to Burkhart’s father, as reported by Blick, the centre forward chose Louis van Gaal’s side over the London contingent.

Arsenal are believed to have signed Nigerian duo Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali as they look to build upon the foundations of their youth side. Arsene Wenger has become well renowned for promoting youngsters into the first-team, with both Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi doing so with much success over the last two seasons.

Southampton were also interested in the Swiss youngster.
