Arsenal have received a double boost ahead of their Premier League return fixture against Watford this weekend, as news struck that both Petr Cech and David Ospina would be fit to feature.
The Colombian goalkeeper picked up an injury in the 2-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park a couple of weeks ago but finished the game and seemed fine. However, days later and whilst on international duty for his country, was seen holding his back because of the same injury – raising a small amount of concern. However, once again Ospina completed the 90 minutes and featured again against Ecuador without any issue.
After the game, the 27-year-old, as reported by the Daily Express, confirmed his availability.
I’m already much better, between the day of the injury and today my recovery has been positive – the pain is now minimal.
Meanwhile, the Gunners received perhaps even more of a boost when Cech confirmed to MF Dnes that he has not suffered any setbacks and will be available to feature after the international break.
I should be fine after the national team break. It’s nothing serious. I’m still motivated and excited for each training session.
The two being at full fitness leaves Arsene Wenger with a dilemma as for who to pick, with Ospina in fine form but the experienced 33-year-old the clear no.1 choice prior to his injury.
