Liverpool line up £40m summer move for Arsenal duo
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are interested in making a for out of favour Arsenal duo Wojciech Szczesny and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the summer transfer window.
Szczesny is highly unlikely to sign a new deal at the Emirates come the end of the season, as his contract runs out, and the Polish international goalkeeper has spent the season so far on loan to Italian giants Roma.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s situation is quite different. The England international has spent most of his days at Arsenal on the sideline since joining from Southampton five years ago and it looks as though the summer transfer window could very well spell the end of his tenure at the Emirates.
It may come as a surprise, however, to see a club like Liverpool looking to move for the pair.
Szczesny’s signature would see an increased level of competition for in the first-team with the inconsistent Simon Mignolet for the Reds, but the competition for Oxlade-Chamberlain is going to be inevitably high, with Southampton confirmed to be interested in a move for their academy graduate.
It is reported that the valuation of the pair combined is around the £40m mark – a highly reasonable figure for the Gunners if offers are to come in.
