Arsenal have made a late bid to beat out Barcelona and Chelsea to the signing of Independiente attacking midfielder Lucas Patanelli, according to reports from Marca.
The Spanish news outlet have claimed that the north London side are interested in bringing the 16-year-old to the club, despite the fact that Luis Enrique’s side have already agreed a deal with the player.

The Independiente midfielder has been likened to the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, making him amongst the world’s most highly sought-after teenagers.
A move for Patanelli will cost a reported £2.8m, a potential bargain if he reaches his full potential.
Real Madrid were also previously interested in Patanelli but the Argentinian midfielder is believed to have chosen the Camp Nou side instead, despite meeting and speaking to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Arsenal will, however, look to persuade the youngster to make the move to north London instead of last season’s UEFA Champions League winners.
