Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a transfer target for Southampton, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.
Chamberlain is one of Saints’ most prestigious academy products in recent years. He joined the Gunners after shining in League One for the Saints and it appears that a move back to the south coast could be in the offing.
The 22-year-old has found first-team action this season extremely hard to come by in North London due to a combination of falling out of favour, being hindered with injuries and being kept out of the team by some excellent individual performances from the other star men in the Gunners’ team.
Southampton are looking to strengthen next season in order push on for European qualification once more and to do this, they’ll need some fresh talent to help them go forward.
Although a move back to St Mary’s would be a welcome sight for the Southampton faithful, the Saints will have to move fast if they are to acquire Chamberlain as Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be interested in the England international.
