Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted a tight game when Arsenal face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

The north London side visit the north West club in precarious form, having not won in the Premier League in their last four games and losing their previous two in cup competitions, first to Watford in the FA Cup quarter-finals followed by a 3-1 drubbing from defending UEFA Champions League holders Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Arsenal have an 11 point deficit to try and overturn at the weekend when they face the Toffees, with Leicester City currently clear at the top of the table and second place Tottenham Hotspur six points ahead of Arsene Wenger’s side.

For Arsenal to get back on track in the league, the wins must start and soon, and despite the need for victory, the Sky Sports pundit admitted in his weekly predictions column, that he does not believe that the Gunners are capable of winning the game at Goodison.

You just never know what Everton side are going to turn up! One minute they are brilliant and then the next they’re not. It was a great result in the FA Cup against Chelsea and reaching the semi-final is a major boost for Roberto Martinez, however, before that result they haven’t been great at home. On the other hand, I thought Arsenal did well against Barcelona and they will be hoping to translate that form to the league. A draw is no good to either side here but I don’t think there’s much between the sides. I’m going for a 1-1 draw.

Arsenal have the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley to try and stop, as well as Aaron Lennon who is in red hot form going into the game.
