The irresistible trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar combined once again to fire Barcelona into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League as Arsenal were left trailing by the defending champions.

The 5-1 aggregate score over two legs will perhaps be a harsh showing on Arsene Wenger’s side, who had they successfully managed to convert a number of chances that fell to them in the two ties, could have been looking at a very different final result on the scoreboard at Camp Nou.

The Gunners’ failure to reach the quarter-finals now stretches back to as far as 2010 whilst the side’s poor form in recent months will only continue to provide fuel to the fan’s fire that is being lit under the heavily scrutinised Wenger.
