Former Arsenal player Paul Merson believes that the north London side will comfortably beat Watford at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup quarter final on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners will look to win their third FA Cup in a row, having beaten Hull City and Aston Villa in the previous two rounds.

It took Arsenal a fifth round replay on Tuesday evening against the Tigers to progress into the quarter final, with braces from Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott sealing the fate of Arsene Wenger’s side.

With the tricky fixture against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League coming up to consider, where the north Londoners visit the Camp Nou with a 2-0 goal deficit, the Sky Sports pundit believes, as reported in his weekly prediction column, that Wenger could rest his best players on Sunday, but the team he does put out will win by two goals to nil.

Watford have hit a bit of a brick wall. They have done brilliantly this season, but it’s just started to catch up with them. They’re struggling to score goals and to win football matches.

This is a massive game for Arsenal. For me, this is their meaningful chance of silverware because I would be shocked if they won the league from here.

They are going to get absolutely rinsed in the Champions League, but my worry is Arsene Wenger could rest players for the Watford game and take his strongest team to Barcelona. It would not surprise me one bit, but this is a big game for Arsenal.
