It was a routine win for Arsenal on Tuesday evening as they took Hull City on in the FA Cup fifth round replay at the KC Stadium in somewhat an unfamiliar kick-off time of 19:00 GMT.

Arsenal took the lead through Olivier Giroud’s first-half strike, after David Meyler perhaps stupidly and blindly played in the Frenchman inside of the six-yard box, and he made no error in scoring his first goal in nearly two-and-a-half-months.

The goal meant that the north London side took a 1-0 lead into the break and it was two midway through the second period as Giroud doubled Arsenal’s lead. Theo Walcott crossed from the left into the 29-year-old centre forward, and despite the ball taking a slight deflection on the way into him, Giroud was well placed to volley home.

Arsenal secured the three points through Walcott’s goal, after being found by Joel Campbell with a wonderfully placed pass, the England international finished well beyond the Hull ‘keeper.

The 26-year-old added insult to injury by making it 4-0 in the 89th minute, securing an impressive win which sees them take on Watford at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
