Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has criticised on loan Arsenal winger Wellington Silva for his recent performances, especially on the road.
The Brazilian has made 22 appearances for the Championship side this season, scoring on two occasions but with the club facing the prospect of relegation because of their poor form, the ex-Celtic boss axed Silva because of the dip in his performance levels.
Speaking to Bolton News, the talented winger’s recent appearances in a white shirt, especially away from home, were crticised by Lennon.
He has not been playing well enough to warrant a place in the team.
His recent performances haven’t been anywhere near good enough. He is a decent player at home but away from home he is a bit lightweight.
The Arsenal winger is someone who the club have high hopes for, with his inability to gain a UK visa to enable him to work in the country a main reason why he has yet to get near the first-team.
Having gained one, Silva was immediately sent out on loan to the Championship side and became a key member of the first-team, impressing supporters because of his exciting nature.
It seems, however, if the winger is interested in getting away from the development squad and back to first-team football, he will have to get back to a better level of play.
